The
front portion of the three-story, four-bedroom, wood-framed Farm
Home was built in 1812, the rear portion in the 1860s. Front and
rear staircases connect all floors. It contains three chimneys
and nine fireplaces, two of which are working fireplaces; the remainder
have gas log units.
The
main floor has a front entrance hall and staircase; a formal living
room with working fireplace and mantle; a master bedroom suite with
fireplace (with gas logs) and mantle and a modern, marble-tiled
master bathroom; a formal library with fireplace (with gas logs)
and mantle and built-in cabinets; and a powder room. The main floor
has 10-foot ceilings and original wainscoting.
The
ground level contains a rustic den, with working fireplace and exposed
brick and ceiling beams; a formal dining room with fireplace and
mantle (with gas logs) and a turntable service between the dining
room and the kitchen pantry hall; a large, completely new, chef’s
kitchen with large island, exposed ceiling beams, fireplace (with
gas logs), and track lighting; a powder room; and a mudroom with
shower and separate entrance.
The
upper floor has two bedrooms in the front of the house, which share
a full bath, and a rear bedroom/bathroom guest suite that is separately
accessible from the rear stairway.
The
interior has been insulated, replastered, and painted in tasteful
Colonial colors. The exterior, including the beveled-edged framing,
has been carefully restored, repaired, and repainted. Both front
and side porches have been rebuilt. All chimneys have been either
rebuilt or repaired and repointed.
Modern

baths, two half baths); new lighting throughout; all new electrical
and plumbing, with three-zone hot water heat and ready-in-time hot
water; new gas log fireplace units; alarm system.
